MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is no doubt one of my favourite supplements for health maintenance and optimisation.

Involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions and protein production, Magnesium is part of the process necessary for production of hormones, ATP (energy), neurotransmitters, metabolism of nutrients, bone formation and cellular signalling.

Hence maintenance of optimal levels of magnesium in the body promotes health benefits such as improved sleep, mood, cardiovascular and bone health, hormonal regulation and improved exercise performance and recovery. Can also help reduce inflammation.

Good dietary sources of magnesium includes in descending order dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, wholegrains, nuts, fruit, fish, meat, dairy, eggs, cocoa, soy flour.

Sadly, due to the conditions of soil and detrimental agricultural practices, the content of magnesium in our food can commonly not be enough to meet our daily requirements. Especially in conditions which require therapeutical dosage. In these cases, supplementation with the appropriate form of magnesium is recommended to support optimal health and wellbeing.

Magnesium can be found in different types, with different health benefits, such as:

Citrate

Malate
