What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic type of medicine, which considers all aspects of health involved in the promotion and maintenance of overall health and wellbeing, such as physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual factors.

Vitalism and holism are the main philosophies underlying naturopathic practice, as well as the 6 following principles:

Although some aspects of naturopathic practice are still very much influenced by traditional knowledge, it heavily relies on evidence based knowledge to guide clinical decisions, which are entirely patient centred and customised for each client according to their presented health status and current ability to implement change.

Nutrition, lifestyle counselling and herbal medicine are the three main pillars of naturopathic practice. Naturopaths often work alongside conventional care to support clients in achieving their health goals; empowering clients to take care of their own health by educating and supporting them to adequately making dietary and life-style choices which can support the body’s inner ability to find balance and heal.
